CODE OF CONDUCT – FOUNDATION PHASE

I BELONG TO MARIST BROTHERS LINMEYER AND I AM PROUD OF MY SCHOOL.

I PROMISE TO BE A GOOD EXAMPLE.

1. MY MANNERS ARE OUTSTANDING

  • I always remember to step aside and greet when I walk past any adults in my school and I am always polite to them.
  • I assist where I can
  • I am polite to my classmates and everyone who attends my school.
  • I keep quiet and listen when a teacher is talking.
  • I always remember to say please and thank you.
  • I do not interrupt conversations.

2. MY BEHAVIOUR IS MOST IMPORTANT

  • I am being watched by everyone.

a. In the classroom

  • I listen to my teacher.
  • I do not shout out.
  • I work quietly.
  • I do not disturb others.
  • I keep my classroom neat.
  • I do not touch other people’s property.
  • I have respect for books and furniture.
  • I arrive on time for school.

b. On the corridors, in the hall and in the resource centre

  • I always walk quietly and in line on the corridors.
  • I wait for my teacher and do not run off.
  • I do not talk in the hall.
  • I do not hurt other children.
  • I do not eat in the above areas.

c. On the playground and at the swimming pool

  • I do not throw anything at anybody.
  • I obey the teacher and prefects on duty.
  • I know that no bullying is allowed.
  • I do not fight and use bad language.
  • I do not litter.
  • I do not destroy plants.
  • I do not play or eat in the toilets and I keep them clean.
  • I never go into the pool area unless there is a teacher with me.
  • I obey the rules of the pool area.

3. MY UNIFORM

  • I am proud of my uniform and am always dressed correctly.
  • My uniform is labelled.
  • On P.T days I wear shorts and a school t-shirt.
  • When it is cold I wear my school tracksuit.
  • For swimming I wear my navy blue costume and school swimming cap.
  • Boys – my hair is short and neat. No radical hairstyles.
  • Girls – I tie my hair up if it is long.
  • I may wear a chain of religious significance, provided it is under my clothing.
  • I never go shopping with my mom and dad incorrectly dressed because I am proud of my school uniform.

4. I WANT TO COLLECT AS MANY MERITS AS POSSIBLE

  • My teacher records my best work, excellent results and good, helpful behaviour. The Principal, HOD or my teacher may decide to award a merit at their discretion, as well.

10 Merits

  • I will receive a sticker and a badge.

20 Merits

  • I will receive a sticker and a treat.

30 Merits

  • I will receive a sticker and a badge.

40 Merits

  • I will receive a sticker and a prize from the HOD.

5. DEMERITS

  • If I don’t behave according to the Code of Conduct, an entry will be made on my demerit sheet.
  • After 3 demerits, the HOD will call my parents.
  • After 5 demerits, the Deputy will call my parents and I will not go on the next outing.

6. HOMEWORK

  • I must have my diary at school every day.
  • I must do my homework every day and it must be checked and signed by an adult at home.

7. MY SCHOOL BAG

  • My name and grade must be clearly marked on my school bag and kit bag.

8. EXTRA MURAL ACTIVITY

  • It is suggested that I take part in one extramural activity per term.
