CODE OF CONDUCT – SENIOR PRIMARY

Our Code of Conduct revolves around the word RESPECT

RESPECT FOR SELF AND OTHERS

RESPECT FOR SCHOOL

The Code applies to all pupils who are part of the Marist Brothers Linmeyer family. It is expected that the following set of guidelines enables each pupil to achieve success with dignity.

RESPECT FOR GOD

We believe that God is above all in our lives and therefore our behaviour and actions need to reflect this. We show respect for God by:

  • Not using God’s name in vain
  • Abiding by the school’s Catholic Principles
  • Living out the school’s Ethos
  • Regular attendance and participation in Mass and other Religious services
  • Making decisions with God in mind
  • Acceptance of Jesus’ way for living our lives

RESPECT FOR SELF AND OTHERS

Pupils at Marist Brothers Linmeyer should treat their fellow pupils with respect and consideration in all areas of school life.

1. RESPECT FOR SELF

We show respect for ourselves by:

  • Taking pride in everything we do
  • Attending school regularly
  • Arriving at school appropriately dressed (see uniform criteria) and with all the requirements for the day
  • Ensuring we are neat and tidy at all times
  • Abiding by the school’s hair and jewellery regulations
  • Looking after our belongings
  • Completing tasks in a timeous manner
  • Listening respectfully in class to all staff instructions
  • Giving your best effort no matter the occasion

2. RESPECT FOR OTHERS

We show respect for others by:

  • Greeting other pupils, staff members and visitors to our school in a friendly, respectful manner
  • Allowing staff to teach without interruption
  • Not disrupting the class
  • Listening to peers give their opinions without judgement
  • Following the class rules as set by each staff member
  • Ensuring that we leave our area neat and tidy and litter free
  • Giving each person their individual space
  • Using language which is not hateful, abusive, discriminatory or hurtful
  • Respecting each person’s private property
  • Agreeing to the school’s regulations regarding cell phone usage (as shown in General School Policy)
  • Showing good sportsmanship at practices and matches, during defeat or victory abiding by each staff member/coach’s rules at extra mural events
  • Following instructions and displaying good manners on tours and outings
  • Avoiding verbal or physical confrontation with another pupil

3. RESPECT FOR SCHOOL

We show respect for our school by:

  • Not bringing our school’s name into disrepute
  • Agreement and acceptance of all school rules and regulations
  • Keeping school buildings and facilities undamaged
  • Wearing our school uniform with pride at all times, in and out of school
  • Fulfilling our obligations as far as school and homework are concerned
  • Behaving appropriately on tours and outings
  • Giving our best when representing the school in any activity
  • Playing games in the designated areas in school
  • Respecting authority figures in the school
