ABOUT
KABELO MOKGETHI

Piano/Keyboard Teacher

Kabelo Mokgethi started playing piano at the age of 7. His passion for music led him to study a BMus (Hons), which he completed with a cum laude at Wits University. He studied piano with renown South African pianist Prof. Malcolm Nay and studied composition with Prof. Jeanne Zaidel-Rudolph, who arranged the South African national anthem and wrote its English verse.

During his undergraduate years, Kabelo performed with and accompanied singers such as Lira and Lebo Sekgobela. He has also played in many classical ensembles as well as the former Wits Orchestra. His love for composing music is just as much as his love for performing. He has composed many concert works for string quartet, solo piano, orchestra, jazz ensembles and piano concertos as well as music for film.

Kabelo is currently studying towards his Master’s degree in Music composition (screen music) at Wits University.
