Mr Katlego Taunyane (1985) was born in Soweto, Johannesburg and started violin lessons at the age of 10. He went on to study a Diploma in Classical Violin Performance at the University of Cape Town. In 2007, Mr Taunyane became the first recipient of the Solomon Makosana Award, an award in memory of the late Solomon Makosana, a CPO board member who passed away in 2006. Furthermore, he went onto receive the Gerry Meyer Memorial Prize in 2010 from the University of Cape Town.
As a performer, Mr Taunyane has played for the Johannesburg Camarata, Johannesburg Music Initiative (JMI), Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, Namibia National Symphony Orchestra, Eastern Cape Philharmonic and a variety of other freelance string ensembles.
He has over 10 years of experience teaching Individual and Group lessons for Cape Phil Education Program, The Amy Biehl Foundation, ComArts Community Association and private students. Mr Taunyane also has an interest in conducting and arranging music for children’s orchestras.

Fees/Rates: Grade 0 – 2 (30 min lesson): R294 per month, Grade 3 (45 min lesson): R441 per month, Grade 4 – 12 (1-hour lesson): R588 per month.
N.B. Fees are payable over a period of 10 months (February to November)
Mrs Pereira started music lessons at the age of 11 and studied music privately. From the age of 17 she started teaching small children and has always been very active in her church.
She has taught privately from home for over 23 years.
In 1993 Mrs Pereira taught at Harvest Christian School and after 20 years now teaches and offers private music lessons at Marist Brothers Linmeyer.

Julia graduated in 2001 as a Lyric / Dramatic Soprano from the M.I Glinka State Conservatory of Novosibirsk, Russia with a major in Opera Singer as well as a Diploma in Teaching of Classical and Contemporary Music. Her degree was evaluated by SAQA as Bachelor Honors degree in Music.
After graduation between 2001 and 2006 she performed on stage as a Leading Actress and Singer at the Altai State Theatre in Russia playing the main roles in over 30 operas and operettas (Mozart, Massenet, Stravinsky, Verdi, Strauss and many others). At the same time she performed in more than 50 private concerts. Julie taught piano and voice at the Music College of Barnaul (Russia).
In 2004 she won the Schedrin most accomplished musician at IBLA Music Competition in Italy.
Julia has performed with Salon Music Pretoria in several operas and in numerous private concerts and has taught music at various Schools

Mrs Teixeira was born into a family with a musical background and at the age of 12 played in an all-girls band in Lourenço Marques. Her love for music and the drums continued and in later years she continued to perform in shows and concerts.
Mrs Teixeira’s passion has always been teaching the skills of playing acoustic drums.

Gerald first picked up a guitar at age 15 and through his musical journey he joined the SADF and served in the entertainment core. He later joined the local band Stingray and recorded and toured around the country. Gerald has also free-lanced and recorded with many South African artists such as, PJ Powers, Steve Hofmeyer, Laurika Rauch and Coenie de Villiers.
He contracted with Sun International Royal Swazi Spa backing various overseas and local cabaret artists from Madeline Bell, Neville Nash, Judy Page and Barry Hilton. Gerard went on to play in the local blues rock trio Fat City and also played with Shirley Bassey on her South African tour. He eventually moved on to theatre, playing broadway classics as The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Hairspray, Footloose, Rent, We Will Rock You, Cats and many of Janice Honeyman’s Pantomimes at the Civic Theatre, to name but a few.
For the last several years Gerald has taken to teaching young minds in both Guitar and Bass at Marist Brothers, Linmeyer.
TIANA DE OLIVEIRA

Tiana’s educational background includes a Grade 8 in Trinity Practical, a Grade 8 in Trinity Theory, a Grade 8 in Rockschool Theory and a Grade 8 in Rockschool Drums. Her personal achievements include being in a band, performing at concerts and festivals, radio experience and playing for weddings. She is currently a church pianist and has been one for 13 years.
She was placed second overall in the NESA (Silver Medalist); won the Contemporary Section in the NESA; and was voted the Most Inspiring performer in the NESA. Her other achievements include radio experience as well as recording a CD with a local band.
Tiana also has a Debut level in Ukulele and Acoustic Guitar, as well as a Grade 1 in both Electric and Bass Guitar.

Lydia comes from a musical family and began to play the piano at a very young age. She matriculated at the Johannesburg School of Art and become involved with teaching music at various schools. Passionate about helping children, Lydia assists in developing their talents so that they may become excellent performers.
