MARIST BROTHERS LINMEYER

Mrs Marianne Kilian

Mrs Kilian obtained a Higher Education Diploma from Goudstadse Onderwys Kollege and then went on to receive a Further Diploma in Special Education from UNISA. She has 32 years of teaching experience and joined our Marist Family in 2016. She was attracted by the School’s excellent reputation and the fact that it feels like a privilege to teach here. Although Mrs Kilian has taught Geography previously, she has a passion for Afrikaans Literature. She is presently teaching Grades 10, 11 and 12 Afrikaans. She aims to encourage her students to believe that they can achieve anything in life if they put their mind to it, that their life is in their own hands and that there are no limits! Extramurally, Mrs Kilian is involved in the Cultural side of the school – specifically Afrikaans Redenaars and Eisteddfod. She is the educator in charge of Rotary Youth Exchange Programme and a member of the teacher who organise the matric dance.

Mrs Kilian feels inspired by people who rise above their circumstances and make a success of their lives. Her hobbies include Photography, Music and Nature as well as Hiking. Her favourite quotes are, “The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek,” by Joseph Campbell and “Maak jou vriendelikheid goedkoop en jou vriendskap duur,” by CJ Langenhoven. Something that not a lot of people may know about Mrs Kilian is that she is a self-confessed Party Girl.
