Mrs Kühn joined Marist Brothers Linmeyer after the completion of a Bachelor of Science (Masters), through the University of the Witwatersrand. She later went on to obtain a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from UNISA. Mrs Kühn is currently teaching Grades 11 and 12 Chemistry (Physical Sciences) and Grade 12 Life Sciences. Outside of the classroom, Mrs Kühn manages the awarding of and engraving of all the high school trophies.
Mrs Kühn has a passion for all things Chemistry – Physical Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biomolecular Chemistry. She has completed her Honours in Genetics (Genetic Engineering) and her Masters in Molecular and Cell Biology. She tries to encourage her students to try their best always – that is enough.
Her hobbies include Cooking, Baking, Reading and Running, in an attempt to keep fit. Her favourite quote is, “Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.” by Henry Ford and she is inspired by the perseverance of people who choose to be happy and positive even in the most adverse situations. Something that not a lot of people may know about Mrs Kühn is that she is a breast cancer survivor and that she turned down a PhD scholarship because she had already accepted a part-time teaching position at Marist Brothers Linmeyer and knew that this was where she wanted to be.
She feels that the genuine care and compassion that is shown by staff and students towards others is what makes Marist Brothers Linmeyer special. Mrs Kühn is a strong believer in the fact that Marist Brothers Linmeyer really epitomises the Marist Characteristic of Family Spirit and that this is evident in the way that you feel when you walk into the school.
